Sculptra and Radiesse are collagen-stimulating injectables. Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA). Both are used in Korea and worldwide to restore volume that fades with age, such as hollow temples, flat cheeks and a sunken area under the cheekbones.
People search for Sculptra in Korea when they want fuller-looking areas without the defined shape of a hyaluronic acid filler. Results build gradually and look like your own tissue, because they mostly are.
At Peachcell Clinic in Gangnam, Dr. Ha decides between Sculptra, Radiesse or a gentler collagen booster like GOURI or Juvelook Volume after examining how much volume you have lost and where.
How it works
Sculptra is mixed with sterile water ahead of time and injected into the deeper layers. Right after the injection the area looks fuller because of the water, and that fullness fades over a few days. Then, over the following weeks and months, the PLLA particles prompt your body to build collagen, and the real result appears slowly. This is why Sculptra is done in a series.
Radiesse gives some volume right away from the CaHA gel, and the particles also prompt collagen over time. Diluted Radiesse can also be spread more thinly to improve skin firmness.
Both products are slowly broken down by the body. Neither can be dissolved with an enzyme the way a hyaluronic acid filler can, so careful planning and a measured dose matter.
Who it suits
- Hollow temples that make the face look narrow at the top
- Flat or sunken cheeks and a “peanut-shaped” face
- Volume loss across the face with age or weight loss
- People who prefer gradual change over instant filler shape
- Thin, loose skin that needs more support (diluted Radiesse)
When another option fits better
- Lips and the under-eye area: these products are not used there. Hylo-Wave or a soft hyaluronic acid filler fits better.
- A quick change for an event soon: a hyaluronic acid filler gives an immediate result.
- Mild dullness or texture only: Rejuran or Juvelook Skin is enough.
- Sagging from heavy tissue: Ultherapy PRIME or Onda lifting addresses that first.
Dr. Ha’s note
Sculptra and Radiesse are powerful, which is why I am careful with them. They cannot be dissolved like hyaluronic acid filler, so I would rather place a measured amount and add more at the next session than overdo it on day one. I also tell patients plainly that the fullness they see right after Sculptra goes away within days, and the real change comes weeks later. For international patients, I plan the series around your trips. If you can only come once, I may suggest a different product that makes more sense for a single visit.
Aftercare
- Swelling and bruising are common for 1–2 weeks.
- After Sculptra, follow the doctor’s gentle massage instructions exactly. Avoid any other firm massage or pressure on the area.
- No alcohol or smoking for a week to lower the risk of inflammation.
- Avoid saunas, jjimjilbang and swimming pools for a week.
- Use sunscreen every day.
- Small lumps can occur. Very rarely, an injection can affect a blood vessel. If the skin turns pale or dusky, or pain is severe, contact us immediately.
- Results vary from person to person and build over months.

Frequently asked questions
How much do Sculptra and Radiesse cost at Peachcell?
Sculptra and Radiesse are not on Peachcell’s winter 2026 menu, so we quote them after the consultation, once the amount is clear. Prices exclude VAT (10%). Send us a message on WhatsApp for a current estimate. See the full winter 2026 price list.
What is the difference between Sculptra and Radiesse?
Sculptra (PLLA) works almost entirely by prompting collagen, so the result appears over months. Radiesse (CaHA) gives some immediate volume and also prompts collagen. The doctor chooses based on the area and how fast you need a result.
How long do results last?
Because the result is largely your own collagen, it tends to last longer than hyaluronic acid filler, often a year or more. It varies with age and lifestyle.
Can I fly home right after?
Most people fly the next day. With Sculptra, you will need to continue the massage routine at home, and the next session is usually 4–6 weeks later, so plan it around your next trip to Seoul.
What are the risks?
Bruising, swelling and small lumps under the skin are the most common. Very rarely, an injection can block a blood vessel, which needs treatment right away. Unlike hyaluronic acid filler, these products cannot be dissolved with an enzyme.
Results vary by individual. Every treatment plan is decided after an in-person consultation with the doctor.
