Onda Lifting in Korea: Who It Suits, Cost per kJ, Results and Recovery for Double Chin and Jowls

DEKA Onda lifting device at Peachcell Clinic, Seoul

Is it a double chin, soft fullness along your jawline, or a face that looks rounder in photos than you feel it should? And have you seen Onda lifting mentioned as the Korean answer?

Please read this before you book Onda. It works well for one kind of face and can be the wrong choice for another, and the difference is easy to check before you fly.

By the end you will know what Onda actually does, who it suits and who should choose something else, what kJ means and how Peachcell prices it in winter 2026, what results to expect and when, what recovery is like, and how to fit it into a trip to Seoul.

I’m Dr. Ha Chang-ik, head doctor of Peachcell Clinic in Sinsa, Seoul. I trained at Korea University College of Medicine, serve as Academic Director of the Korean Society of Filler Medicine (KSFM), and lecture to other doctors. We use the DEKA Onda device in the clinic, alongside Ultherapy PRIME, Thermage FLX, XERF and Titanium, so I can choose between them for each face instead of fitting every face to one machine.

Your first visit starts with a 3D skin scan on EVE MUSE, then a consultation with me, the doctor who will treat you. We use genuine devices only, and since October 2026 all treatment rooms on our second floor are private one-person rooms.

I wrote this because many foreign patients come in believing that stronger lifting is always better, or that Onda is simply a “softer Ulthera.” Onda works on a different problem. It is mainly about fat that sits in the wrong place, with some skin tightening on top. If the problem is sagging structure or hollow cheeks, Onda alone is not the answer, and I would rather tell you that on WhatsApp than after you have flown to Seoul.

What Onda lifting is and how it works

Onda is a device made by DEKA, an Italian company. It uses microwave energy at 2.45GHz to heat the fat layer under the skin and the lower part of the dermis. The tip cools the skin surface at the same time, which protects the top layer and makes the heat easier to tolerate.

The heat does two things. Fat cells in the treated area are damaged and cleared by the body gradually over the following weeks, so the area slims down. The dermis tightens as collagen remodels. That combination is why Onda is used for a double chin, jowls, a heavy lower face and, with a different handpiece setting, for the abdomen, thighs and upper arms.

Onda is measured in kJ (kilojoules), the total energy delivered. More kJ means more energy spread over the area, which usually suits a larger or thicker area. It is not a measure of how intense each pass feels.

Who Onda suits, and who should choose something else

Onda fits well when the lower face looks heavy because of fat:

  • A round face with soft fullness along the jawline
  • A double chin that stays even at a healthy weight
  • Early jowls where the skin is still reasonably firm
  • Body areas with a stubborn layer of fat, such as the lower abdomen, inner thighs or upper arms

Onda is the wrong first choice in several common situations:

  • A thin face with hollow cheeks (what I call a “peanut-shaped” face): taking away fat here makes the face look older. XERF (Serf) with Hylo-Wave usually suits this face better.
  • Deep sagging with loose skin and marionette lines: reducing fat under skin that has already dropped can make the looseness more visible. Ulthera works on the deeper support layer, and sometimes I combine the two.
  • A large amount of fat or a weight goal: Onda refines shape. It does not replace weight loss or liposuction.

I explain this face-shape guide in a short video on which lifting fits which face. Please tell me about pregnancy, a pacemaker or other implanted device, metal implants in the treatment area, active skin infection or recent procedures in the same area before we plan.

Onda with other lifting: Ulthera, XERF, Titanium, Thermage

Because Onda mainly addresses fat, I often pair it with a device that works on a different layer. These are the combinations I use most, and most of them appear in the clinic’s winter 2026 packages:

  • Onda + Ulthera: for a full lower face that is also starting to sag. Onda slims, Ulthera lifts the deeper layer.
  • Onda + XERF (Serf): for a face that needs slimming along the jaw and firmer skin overall, without strong deep lifting.
  • Onda + Titanium: for contour plus tone and texture, with very little downtime.
  • Onda + Thermage: for slimming plus skin tightening over the whole face.

None of these is right for everyone. I choose the pair, or Onda alone, after seeing your face in person. More detail is on the Onda lifting treatment page, and if deep sagging is your main concern, read the Ultherapy PRIME page too.

Onda at Peachcell, step by step

  1. WhatsApp consultation. Send photos from the front, the side and at a 45-degree angle, with your chin level. For body areas, describe the area or send a photo you are comfortable sharing.
  2. Arrival. Consultation is on the 3rd floor, treatment on the 2nd floor in a private room.
  3. EVE MUSE 3D skin scan. This gives an objective picture of the skin before we decide.
  4. Consultation with me. I pinch and look at the area from several angles to judge how much is fat and how much is loose skin, then mark the area and agree on the kJ with you.
  5. Preparation. Many people have Onda without numbing cream because the tip cools the surface. If you are sensitive, we can use numbing cream first.
  6. Treatment. The handpiece moves continuously over the marked area. You feel building warmth, and some spots, especially near the jawbone, can feel sharply hot for a moment. Tell me and I adjust.
  7. Aftercare. Soothing, sunscreen for the face, written instructions, and a WhatsApp follow-up after you leave.

Onda results: what patients typically notice, and when

Right after treatment the skin may feel a little tighter, but the area is also slightly swollen, so the first few days are not a fair judge. The slimming comes as the body clears damaged fat cells, gradually over several weeks to about two months. Patients usually describe a cleaner line under the chin and less heaviness at the jaw in side photos.

The change is real but moderate. One session will not reshape a face, and many people need more than one session to reach the result they want, spaced a few weeks apart. If you travel to Korea only once, I will tell you honestly what one session can do and whether a combination makes more sense for a single visit. Results vary between people, and the plan is always decided in consultation.

Before choosing a clinic for Onda, I suggest checking three things, which I explain in this short video: the doctor’s experience with the device, real case history, and whether you get a proper consultation before treatment.

Onda recovery timeline and risks

  • Same day: redness and warmth that usually fade within hours. You can wash your face and wear makeup the same day.
  • Days 1 to 3: mild swelling, and the area may feel firm or tender to touch, especially under the chin.
  • Weeks 1 to 2: tenderness settles. Most people are back to normal activities right away.
  • Weeks 4 to 8: gradual slimming as fat clears.

Possible side effects include redness, swelling, tenderness, and temporary firmness or small lumps in the treated fat. Less commonly, there can be temporary numbness, or blisters if the skin overheats. For one week, avoid alcohol, smoking, saunas and strong massage on the area, and wear sunscreen on the face.

Planning Onda into your Seoul trip, and checking the device

Peachcell is at 3F YK Tower, 121 Dosan-daero, Gangnam-gu, near Sinsa Station (Line 3 and Shinbundang Line). We are open Monday to Friday 10:00 to 20:00 (lunch 13:30 to 14:30) and Saturday 10:00 to 16:00 without a lunch break. Closed on Sunday.

  • Because downtime is short, Onda fits easily into a city trip. You can usually go sightseeing the same day.
  • For body areas, wear loose clothing that you can change out of easily.
  • If you plan more than one session, we can space them across trips, or I can suggest a combination that does more in one visit.

How to check it’s a genuine Onda

Ask which device is being used. Onda is made by DEKA, and the device shows the energy delivered in kJ on the screen. Ask how many kJ are planned for each area and look at the total at the end. At Peachcell we use genuine devices only. You can read about my training and lectures on Dr. Ha Chang-ik’s profile page.

Frequently asked questions

Does Onda lifting hurt?

Most people find it tolerable without numbing cream because the tip cools the skin. You feel warmth building, and some spots near the jawbone can feel sharply hot for a moment. I adjust as we go, and numbing cream is available if you are sensitive.

How many kJ do I need for a double chin?

It depends on the size and thickness of the area. Lower-face plans on our winter 2026 menu use 40 to 100kJ. I decide the amount after examining you, and I can give a rough estimate from photos on WhatsApp.

Onda or Ulthera for jowls?

If the jowls are mainly fat and the skin is still firm, Onda often fits. If the skin and deeper layer have dropped, Ulthera is usually needed, sometimes together with Onda. Sending photos from the front and side helps me tell the difference.

Can Onda make my face look hollow?

Yes, if it is used on a thin face or on cheeks that already look hollow. That is why I check face shape first and don’t recommend Onda for a peanut-shaped face.

How many sessions will I need?

Some people are happy after one session. Many choose more than one, a few weeks apart, for a clearer change. If you can visit Korea only once, I will tell you what one session can realistically do.

Results vary by individual. Every treatment plan is decided after an in-person consultation with the doctor.

I was looking for a clinic that would offer reasonable prices with good service, not rushed like other major chains. The whole process from start to end was so smooth and every staff member treated me with care! The director is also so careful during the procedure.

Above and beyond! I booked via their Instagram and it was quick and easy. They were very accommodating upon my arrival and the whole process was quick and smooth. They even provided a friendly, helpful translator who had a lot of insights into the procedures that were being done given her experience translating for other patients. She stayed with me throughout the whole process and was helpful in asking the doctor questions and providing guidance on the whole process! I consulted with one of their doctors who gave me his expert recommendation on what needs to be done for my face given my personal goals. They were not pushy at all on the procedures and even provided value-added services to my final package which was much appreciated. The procedures themselves were efficient - a doctor did both my lifting and microneedling treatments, and they adjusted whenever I expressed that I had some pain or discomfort. The post-procedure facial helped soothe my face and minimize redness and after effects. Cannot recommend this clinic enough for when you’re looking for a place to get your skin treatments done in Seoul! I will definitely be back.

They provided an english interpreter who walked me through the visit every step of the way. Her name is Sun and she is absolutely fabulous. The doctor, manager, and every assistant along the way made this a seamless operation and every detail was thought out- from the relaxing room with the numbing cream to the stuffed animal to hold onto for comfort. I highly recommend them!

Was recommended by a family member, came in not knowing what to expect. Consultation was quick and beginner friendly, although I did have to wait quite a bit. Probably because the place is popular. Will have to wait to see definitive results but wouldn't mind visiting again if the results prove great!

I had an incredible experience at Peachcell Clinic! From the moment I walked in, the staff and doctor made me feel so welcomed and well cared for. They started with a detailed EveMuse 3D facial analysis, which really helped identify my exact skin concerns rather than just offering a generic treatment.. The doctor personally evaluated my skin condition and recommended Sylfirm X and botox. Everything was thoroughly explained step-by-step, making me feel completely safe and confident. Receiving the treatment in a private, 1-on-1 room was so comfortable and relaxing. If you’re looking for high-quality, personalized dermatological care in Seoul, I highly recommend Peachcell Clinic. Definitely coming back! 💕✨

I visited the clinic after being recommended by an acquaintance while looking for a place where the doctor personally provides consultations. The director examined my face directly and recommended the treatments I needed, which made me feel very confident and trusting. I have very little facial fat and thin skin, so the doctor recommended the XERF lifting treatment for me. He said that radiofrequency lifting suits my face well, and after the procedure I’m extremely satisfied. My skin feels firmer, there’s a noticeable lifting effect, and my facial shape looks more refined. I could really feel how carefully the doctor performed the lifting, and I’m very grateful. I’ll definitely come back for XERF lifting every six months. Thank you so much!

Peach Cell Clinic, which recently opened in Sinsa-dong! It’s super easy to find since it’s right near Exit 8 of Sinsa Station on Line 3. From the moment I walked in, I was drawn to the beautiful and cozy atmosphere. Before the procedure, I had a consultation directly with the head doctor, which really boosted my confidence and trust. Another big plus was the 3D imaging, which helped clearly identify areas that could be improved. From anesthesia to the procedure itself, the staff were incredibly attentive, and I’m very satisfied with the results. If you’re looking for a great dermatology clinic near Sinsa Station, I highly recommend♥️
